This artist, Cai Guo-Qiang really caught my attention when I was browsing through his work. first, I assumed he mainly created these gorgeous large scale drawings through a typical medium such as charcoal, or graphite. It wasn’t until I was reading his biography that I realized that the base of his works start by exploding gunpowder onto his canvas.
He produces these absoltuley breathtaking, large-scale landscapes and works around the explosive that erupted onto the canvas. His use of mixed media is flawlessy incoporated from what I can see. Another thing that I found impressive was the atmosphere created in his exhibition, “Sunshine and Solitude”.
